Mesothelin Antibody - MSLN Antibody

Mesothelin Antibody Overview

Mesothelin antibody products are widely used to study tumor-associated antigen expression in cancers such as mesothelioma, ovarian carcinoma, pancreatic adenocarcinoma, and endometrial carcinoma. Mesothelin, encoded by the MSLN gene, is a cell surface glycoprotein with restricted expression in normal mesothelial cells but strong upregulation in multiple malignancies.

Researchers use mesothelin antibody reagents to evaluate tumor cell surface expression, analyze protein processing, and investigate mesothelin-driven pathways including interaction with CA125 (MUC16). For tumor expression profiling and disease-focused applications, see our Mesothelin tumor marker antibody page.

Mesothelin in Cancer Research

Mesothelin expression is strongly associated with tumor progression and is frequently observed in mesothelioma, ovarian cancer, and pancreatic cancer. In mesothelioma, mesothelin antibody staining highlights mesothelial tumor cell populations and supports identification of tumor origin. In ovarian carcinoma, mesothelin contributes to peritoneal dissemination through interaction with CA125.

Applications of Mesothelin Antibody

Mesothelin antibody reagents are used across multiple experimental platforms:

  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC) - evaluation of tumor-associated expression in FFPE tissues, including tissue microarrays
  • Western blot (WB) - detection of mesothelin precursor and processed forms
  • ELISA and detection assays - measurement of protein expression in biological samples

For protein detection and band interpretation guidance, see our MSLN antibody for western blot analysis.

Detection Formats and Sensitivity

Different experimental designs may require optimized detection strategies. In addition to standard antibody formats, biotinylated mesothelin antibody reagents are available for use with streptavidin-based detection systems, enabling signal amplification and improved sensitivity.

For enhanced detection strategies and signal amplification approaches, see our biotinylated Mesothelin antibody detection page.

Specificity and Validation

High specificity is critical for accurate interpretation of mesothelin expression. Antibodies validated using protein microarray platforms demonstrate selective binding to mesothelin with minimal cross-reactivity, supporting reliable performance in both tissue and protein assays.

For proteome-wide validated selectivity and specificity data, explore our MSLN antibody microarray specificity validated page.

Choosing the Right Mesothelin Antibody

Selection of a mesothelin antibody depends on experimental goals:

  • Tumor biology and expression profiling
  • Protein detection and band interpretation
  • High-specificity validation requirements
  • Detection sensitivity and assay format

Using the appropriate antibody format ensures accurate and reproducible results across research applications.
