Cytokeratin 19 Antibody A53-B/A2.26 / CK19 Monoclonal Antibody recognizes keratin 19, a type I intermediate filament protein encoded by the KRT19 gene. Clone A53-B/A2.26 recognizes an epitope within amino acids 312-335 of human KRT19, located in its alpha-helical rod domain. This mapped epitope distinguishes the clone from other cytokeratin 19 antibodies and provides a molecular reference for comparing antibody recognition across experimental studies. KRT19 is structurally unusual among type I keratins because it lacks the extended C-terminal tail domain characteristic of many family members.
KRT19 contributes to epithelial cytoskeletal organization by associating with compatible type II keratins, particularly keratin 8, to form intermediate filament networks. These structures help epithelial cells maintain their architecture and withstand mechanical stress. KRT19 is expressed in numerous simple, glandular, and ductal epithelia, including mammary ducts, pancreatic ducts, biliary epithelial cells, and gastrointestinal tissues. The CK19 Monoclonal Antibody is therefore relevant to investigations of epithelial differentiation, cellular organization, and tissue remodeling.
In cancer research, KRT19 is widely studied as a marker of epithelial lineage and differentiation. Its expression is frequently retained in carcinomas arising from the breast, pancreas, lung, thyroid, and gastrointestinal tract. Immunohistochemical detection of KRT19 can help characterize epithelial tumor populations and their distribution within surrounding tissue. However, KRT19 expression is not specific to malignancy, and its interpretation requires consideration of tissue morphology and complementary molecular markers.
Clone A53-B/A2.26 has an established history in cytokeratin research, with 103 publications reported by Bioz. This substantial literature presence makes its clone identity particularly valuable for researchers seeking continuity with previously published experimental methods and findings. Its defined epitope within the KRT19 rod domain provides an additional consideration when comparing antibody performance, although epitope mapping alone does not establish specificity against related keratins. The Cytokeratin 19 Antibody A53-B/A2.26 is consequently of interest for studies requiring a well-documented monoclonal clone.
NSJ Bioreagents provides this mouse monoclonal antibody for investigating KRT19 expression in human epithelial tissues and carcinoma models. Its established research history and defined epitope support studies of epithelial differentiation, intermediate filament organization, and carcinoma-associated keratin expression.

The concentration stated for each application is a general starting point. Variations in protocols, secondaries and substrates may require the Cytokeratin 19 Antibody A53-B/A2.26 / CK19 Monoclonal Antibody to be titered up or down for optimal performance.
1. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM Citrate Buffer, pH 6.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes.
2. The prediluted format is supplied in a dropper bottle and is optimized for use in IHC. After epitope retrieval step (if required), drip mAb solution onto the tissue section and incubate at RT for 30 min.
Human breast cancer MCF-7 cells were used as the immunogen for this Cytokeratin 19 antibody.
Store the Cytokeratin 19 antibody at 2-8oC (with azide) or aliquot and store at -20oC or colder (without azide).
