KRT19 Antibody Ks19.1 / Cytokeratin 19 Monoclonal Antibody recognizes keratin 19, a type I intermediate filament protein encoded by the KRT19 gene. Clone Ks19.1 recognizes an epitope within amino acids 312-335 of human cytokeratin 19, located in its alpha-helical rod domain. This mapped epitope provides a molecular reference for antibody selection and comparison with previously published studies. Unlike most type I keratins, KRT19 lacks the extended C-terminal tail domain, making it structurally distinctive within the keratin family.
KRT19 contributes to epithelial cytoskeletal organization by associating with compatible type II keratins, particularly keratin 8, to form intermediate filament networks. These structures help maintain cellular architecture and mechanical stability in epithelial tissues. KRT19 is expressed in numerous simple, glandular, and ductal epithelia, including mammary ducts, pancreatic ducts, biliary epithelial cells, and gastrointestinal tissues. The Cytokeratin 19 Monoclonal Antibody is therefore relevant to investigations of epithelial differentiation, tissue organization, and cellular lineage identity.
In cancer research, KRT19 is widely investigated as a marker of epithelial differentiation. Its expression is frequently retained in adenocarcinomas of the breast, colon, stomach, pancreas, and hepatobiliary system. KRT19 Antibody Ks19.1 is particularly relevant to studies examining the distribution of keratin-positive tumor cells within complex tissue architecture. In thyroid pathology, CK19 expression is commonly associated with papillary thyroid carcinoma, although positivity also occurs in other thyroid lesions and must be interpreted alongside morphology and complementary markers.
Clone Ks19.1 has an extensive history in cytokeratin research, making its identity valuable when comparing experimental findings across published studies. Its recognition of a defined region within the KRT19 rod domain provides an additional consideration for experimental reproducibility and clone selection. However, recognition of a mapped epitope does not independently establish the absence of cross-reactivity with related keratins. Appropriate experimental controls remain important when interpreting immunoreactivity.
NSJ Bioreagents provides this mouse monoclonal antibody for investigating human epithelial tissues and carcinoma models. The Cytokeratin 19 Monoclonal Antibody supports research into epithelial differentiation, intermediate filament organization, and carcinoma-associated keratin expression.

Optimal dilution of the KRT19 Antibody Ks19.1 / Cytokeratin 19 Monoclonal Antibody should be determined by the researcher.
1. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM Citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min
2. The prediluted format is supplied in a dropper bottle and is optimized for use in IHC. After epitope retrieval step (if required), drip mAb solution onto the tissue section and incubate at RT for 30 min.
Human breast cancer MCF-7 cells were used as the immunogen for the KRT19 antibody.
Store the KRT19 antibody at 2-8oC (with azide) or aliquot and store at -20oC or colder (without azide).
