Ig Antibody / Antibodies

There are five immunoglobulin / Ig heavy chain classes and two light chain classes in humans.

  • Heavy chain: IgG (1-4), IgA (1, 2), IgD, IgE and IgM.
  • Light chain: kappa, lambda.

    Tumors express a single heavy chain class. Ig antibody is useful in demonstrating clonality in lymphoid infiltrates. Uniform staining with an Ig antibody indicates that the infiltrate is clonal and therefore malignant.

No cross reactivity with the lamda light chain, human IgG (κ+λ), rat IgG (κ+λ), or goat IgG (κ+λ). The plate was coated with 50 ng/well of different immunoglobulins. 200 ng/mL, 50 ng/mL, or 10 ng/mL of RM103 was used as the primary. An alkaline phosphatase conjugated anti-rabbit IgG as the secondary.
