Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody / Antibodies

The rabbit monoclonal antibody is a relatively new addition to the research antibody portfolio of mouse/rat monoclonals, and rabbit/donkey polyclonals. Some of the advantages of a rabbit monoclonal antibody are:

  • increased sensitivity to mouse antigens
  • unlike with mouse mAbs, secondary antibody will not cross-react with mouse immunoglobulin in test samples
  • a general lower background
  • a general increase in affinity allowing for less rabbit monoclonal antibody to be used per test

    CD56 Extracellular Domain Antibody (clone NCAM1/9121R). Immunohistochemistry of FFPE human colon tissue demonstrates membranous and cytoplasmic staining in scattered neural and neuroendocrine-associated cell clusters consistent with expression of Neural cell adhesion molecule 1 (NCAM1), also known as CD56. Brown chromogenic signal highlights CD56-positive cells within localized structures embedded in the surrounding stromal tissue, while most epithelial and stromal cells show minimal staining. Heat-induced epitope retrieval was performed by boiling tissue sections in pH 9 10mM Tris with 1mM EDTA for 20 minutes followed by cooling prior to antibody incubation.
