Aquaporin 7 Antibody / Adipocyte Glycerol Transport Protein Antibody

Aquaporin 7 Antibody Overview

Aquaporin 7 (AQP7) is a member of the aquaglyceroporin subfamily that facilitates the transport of glycerol and water across cell membranes, playing a central role in lipid metabolism and energy balance. Unlike water-selective aquaporins, AQP7 enables glycerol efflux from adipocytes, linking membrane transport to metabolic regulation. Aquaporin 7 antibody reagents are widely used to study adipose tissue biology, glycerol metabolism, and metabolic signaling pathways.

Aquaporin 7 antibody, also referred to as AQP7 antibody or aquaglyceroporin antibody, is commonly used to detect expression in adipocytes, where AQP7 is highly expressed in the plasma membrane of fat cells. This localization supports its role in releasing glycerol generated during lipolysis, allowing it to enter circulation for use in other tissues. Aquaporin 7 antibody enables investigation of these processes by allowing visualization of protein expression in adipose tissue and experimental models.

AQP7 plays a key role in regulating lipid storage and mobilization. Reduced or altered expression of AQP7 has been associated with metabolic disorders, including obesity and insulin resistance, where impaired glycerol transport can affect lipid accumulation and energy balance. Aquaporin 7 antibody is therefore widely used in research focused on metabolic disease, adipocyte function, and endocrine regulation.

In addition to adipose tissue, AQP7 expression has been reported in other tissues involved in metabolic processes, further supporting its role in systemic energy homeostasis. Aquaporin 7 antibody supports studies examining glycerol transport, metabolic signaling, and the interaction between lipid metabolism and membrane transport.

Due to its role in linking membrane transport with metabolic regulation, AQP7 represents an important target for studies of adipocyte biology and metabolic health. Aquaporin 7 antibody provides a valuable tool for investigating fat cell function, lipid metabolism, and energy balance.
