Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody / Antibodies

The rabbit monoclonal antibody is a relatively new addition to the research antibody portfolio of mouse/rat monoclonals, and rabbit/donkey polyclonals. Some of the advantages of a rabbit monoclonal antibody are:

  • increased sensitivity to mouse antigens
  • unlike with mouse mAbs, secondary antibody will not cross-react with mouse immunoglobulin in test samples
  • a general lower background
  • a general increase in affinity allowing for less rabbit monoclonal antibody to be used per test

    Androgen Receptor Antibody Rabbit Monoclonal DHTR/8698R immunohistochemistry of human prostate carcinoma. Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded human prostate carcinoma tissue stained with the rabbit monoclonal Androgen Receptor Antibody DHTR/8698R shows strong nuclear HRP-DAB brown chromogenic staining in malignant glandular epithelial cells, consistent with androgen receptor expression and the expected nuclear localization of this steroid hormone receptor transcription factor. Surrounding stromal cells show minimal staining, highlighting the predominance of AR-positive tumor epithelial cells within the prostate carcinoma. Heat-induced epitope retrieval was performed by boiling tissue sections in pH 9 10mM Tris with 1mM EDTA for 20 min followed by cooling prior to antibody incubation.
