Ubiquitin D Antibody / Ubiquitin-Like Modifier Antibody recognizes Ubiquitin D (UBD), more commonly known as FAT10, a ubiquitin-like protein that regulates selective proteasomal degradation of target proteins. Unlike ubiquitin, which commonly functions through polyubiquitin chain formation, FAT10 is directly conjugated to substrate proteins through a dedicated enzymatic pathway, targeting them for degradation by the 26S proteasome. This process, known as FAT10ylation, provides an alternative mechanism for controlling protein turnover and maintaining cellular homeostasis. This recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody (clone HID-21) is well suited for detecting Ubiquitin D in applications investigating immune regulation, inflammation, and protein quality control.
Ubiquitin D expression is normally low but is strongly induced by the pro-inflammatory cytokines interferon-γ (IFN-γ) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), resulting in elevated expression in activated immune cells and inflamed tissues. FAT10 contributes to antigen processing, innate immune responses, apoptosis, and cellular stress adaptation while functioning independently of many classical ubiquitin signaling pathways. It also interacts with components of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) and influences cytokine-regulated protein turnover, making Ubiquitin D an important marker for studies of inflammation and immune activation.
Dysregulated Ubiquitin D expression has been reported in numerous malignancies including hepatocellular carcinoma, gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, pancreatic cancer, and other epithelial tumors. Increased FAT10 expression has been associated with enhanced tumor cell proliferation, altered apoptosis, chromosomal instability, and disease progression. Because Ubiquitin D links inflammatory signaling with selective proteasomal degradation, it has emerged as both a valuable biomarker and a potential therapeutic target in cancer and inflammatory disease research. Ubiquitin D Antibody / Ubiquitin-Like Modifier Antibody supports investigations of ubiquitin-like protein conjugation, proteasomal degradation, immune signaling, inflammation, and cancer biology.
