Description

SR-BI Antibody / Scavenger Receptor Class B Type 1 Antibody recognizes Scavenger Receptor Class B Type 1, a transmembrane receptor encoded by the SCARB1 gene that plays a central role in high-density lipoprotein (HDL) metabolism and reverse cholesterol transport. Unlike endocytic lipoprotein receptors, SR-BI selectively transfers cholesterol esters from HDL particles into cells while allowing the lipoprotein particle to remain largely intact. This unique mechanism supports hepatic cholesterol clearance, steroid hormone production and whole-body cholesterol homeostasis.
