IRF4 Antibody RM352 recognizes interferon regulatory factor 4 (IRF4), a transcription factor with important roles in immune cell development, differentiation, and function. IRF4 is also known as multiple myeloma oncogene 1 (MUM1) and belongs to the interferon regulatory factor family of DNA-binding proteins. Unlike several other IRF family members, IRF4 is expressed predominantly in cells of the immune system and participates in transcriptional programs controlling lymphoid and myeloid cell differentiation.
IRF4 has particularly important functions in B-cell development and the transition of activated B cells toward antibody-secreting plasma cells. Its expression and activity change during B-cell differentiation, allowing IRF4 to regulate distinct transcriptional programs at different developmental stages. IRF4 also contributes to the differentiation and function of T-cell subsets, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Through these activities, the protein participates in adaptive immunity, antibody production, inflammatory responses, and immune cell homeostasis.
Dysregulated IRF4 expression or activity is associated with several hematologic malignancies. The alternative name MUM1 reflects its identification in multiple myeloma, where IRF4-dependent transcriptional programs can contribute to plasma cell identity and survival. IRF4 is also extensively investigated in lymphoid malignancies and as a marker of differentiation in B-cell biology. These connections have made IRF4 important in research involving plasma cells, multiple myeloma, lymphoma, immune regulation, and hematopoietic differentiation.
Clone RM352 is a recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody generated against a peptide corresponding to the C-terminal region of human MUM1/IRF4. This Interferon Regulatory Factor 4 Monoclonal Antibody provides a defined recombinant reagent for investigating IRF4 expression and complements polyclonal antibodies directed against this immune regulatory transcription factor. NSJ Bioreagents supplies clone RM352 for research use only.
An IRF4 Antibody can be used to investigate immune cell differentiation, B-cell and plasma cell biology, transcriptional regulation, multiple myeloma, lymphoid malignancies, and immune system function.
Explore our Immunology Antibodies page for additional antibodies targeting proteins involved in immune cell development, differentiation, and function.
The stated application concentrations are suggested starting points. Titration of the IRF4 Antibody RM352 / Interferon Regulatory Factor 4 Monoclonal Antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
A peptide corresponding to the C-terminus of human MUM1/IRF4 was used as the immunogen for the recombinant IRF4 Antibody RM352.
