Recombinant HSP27 Antibody HSPB1/7038R / Recombinant HSPB1 Antibody recognizes HSPB1, a small heat shock protein widely known as HSP27. HSPB1 functions as an ATP-independent molecular chaperone and contributes to cellular mechanisms responsible for maintaining protein homeostasis. Its activity is particularly important during conditions that challenge protein stability, when HSP27 can interact with destabilized proteins and help limit inappropriate aggregation.
HSPB1 contains a conserved alpha-crystallin domain characteristic of the small heat shock protein family. Unlike ATP-dependent chaperones, HSP27 can associate with partially unfolded client proteins without directly driving an ATP-dependent refolding reaction. These interactions can stabilize vulnerable proteins and facilitate their subsequent processing by other components of the protein quality-control machinery. HSPB1 also assembles into dynamic oligomeric complexes whose organization and function can be regulated by phosphorylation.
HSP27 participates in cellular responses to heat shock, oxidative stress and other environmental or physiological challenges. In addition to its molecular chaperone activity, HSPB1 has been studied for roles in cytoskeletal organization, cell migration, apoptosis and survival. Changes in phosphorylation and oligomerization allow HSP27 to alter its interactions in response to stress-responsive signaling, connecting protein quality control with broader mechanisms of cellular adaptation.
HSPB1 is also widely investigated in cancer biology. Altered HSP27 expression and activity have been reported in multiple malignancies and studied in relation to tumor cell survival, migration, resistance to apoptosis and therapeutic response. HSPB1 is additionally relevant to neurological research because pathogenic variants can cause inherited peripheral neuropathies, including forms of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease and distal hereditary motor neuropathy.
