Rat IL-10 Antibody recognizes rat interleukin 10 (IL-10), an immunoregulatory cytokine encoded by the Il10 gene. IL-10 plays an important role in limiting excessive inflammatory responses and maintaining immune homeostasis. It can suppress the production of several pro-inflammatory cytokines and regulate the activity of antigen-presenting cells, lymphocytes, macrophages, and other immune-cell populations. These actions help control the magnitude and duration of immune responses while reducing the potential for prolonged inflammation and associated tissue damage.
Rat IL-10 signals through a receptor complex containing IL10RA and IL10RB subunits. Ligand binding activates JAK1 and TYK2 and promotes STAT3-dependent transcription. This signaling pathway induces regulatory programs that restrain inflammatory mediator production and influence immune-cell activation. IL-10 signaling therefore provides an important feedback mechanism for balancing inflammatory and immunoregulatory responses.
IL-10 is produced by multiple immune-cell populations, including regulatory and conventional T cells, B cells, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Its biological effects depend on cell type, activation state, and the surrounding cytokine environment. Rat models are used to investigate IL-10 biology in immune regulation, inflammation, infection, autoimmunity, and other physiological and disease processes.
