PSA Antibody 3E6 recognizes prostate specific antigen (PSA), a secreted serine protease encoded by the KLK3 gene. PSA is a member of the kallikrein related peptidase family and is produced predominantly by luminal epithelial cells of the prostate. The protein is synthesized as a precursor that undergoes proteolytic processing before secretion, resulting in the mature glycosylated enzyme.
PSA functions primarily in seminal fluid, where its serine protease activity contributes to liquefaction of the seminal coagulum through cleavage of semenogelins and other proteins. PSA can occur in both free and protein-bound forms. In circulation, a substantial fraction is complexed with protease inhibitors, particularly alpha 1-antichymotrypsin, while additional PSA remains uncomplexed.
KLK3 expression is closely associated with differentiated prostate secretory epithelium and is strongly regulated by androgen receptor signaling. PSA expression is commonly retained in prostate adenocarcinoma, making the protein useful for research into prostate epithelial differentiation, tumor biology, androgen-responsive gene regulation, and proteins associated with prostate-derived malignancies. Its restricted expression pattern has also made PSA an extensively studied marker of prostatic epithelial origin.
Clone 3E6 is a mouse monoclonal antibody generated against human prostate specific antigen. This clone recognizes PSA and can be paired with the A67-B/E3 monoclonal antibody in PSA assay research. As a Prostate Specific Antigen MAb, clone 3E6 provides a defined monoclonal reagent for investigating KLK3 protein and prostate-associated biology. NSJ Bioreagents supplies 3E6 for research use only.
