PLAP Antibody Multi-Cell Line WB. Western blot analysis of HepG2, HeLa, untransfected CHO-K1, and PLAP-transfected CHO-K1 cell lysates using PLAP Antibody detects a strong band at approximately 65-70 kDa in HepG2, HeLa, and PLAP-transfected CHO-K1 samples, while untransfected CHO-K1 cells show minimal signal. The observed banding pattern is consistent with expression of placental alkaline phosphatase / ALPP and supports specificity of this germ cell tumor marker antibody for PLAP-expressing cellular populations. The apparent molecular weight is consistent with the heavily glycosylated nature of this membrane-associated alkaline phosphatase family member.

PLAP, Placental Alkaline Phosphatase, is a tissue specific, trophoblast-derived, 70kDa, glycosyl-phosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored, dimeric, Zn2+ metallo glycoprotein that catalyzes the hydrolysis of phosphomonoesters into an inorganic phosphate and an alcohol.
