LI-Cadherin antibody targets Cadherin 17, also known as Liver-intestine cadherin, a calcium-dependent cell adhesion protein encoded by the CDH17 gene. LI-Cadherin is a non-classical member of the cadherin superfamily and is predominantly localized to the cell membrane of epithelial cells in the gastrointestinal tract. Unlike classical cadherins, Cadherin 17 contains seven extracellular cadherin repeats and a short cytoplasmic domain that does not interact with catenins, conferring distinct adhesive and signaling properties.
LI-Cadherin plays an important role in maintaining epithelial organization and polarity in intestinal tissues. LI-Cadherin antibody, also commonly referred to as CDH17 antibody in the literature, is frequently used to study adhesion mechanisms in gastrointestinal epithelial cells. The unique structural features of Cadherin 17 support calcium-dependent cell-cell adhesion while allowing greater flexibility in epithelial remodeling compared with classical cadherins such as E-cadherin.
Expression of LI-Cadherin is largely restricted to the small intestine and colon, with minimal expression in most non-epithelial tissues. Cadherin 17 expression patterns are well characterized in normal intestinal mucosa and are commonly preserved in intestinal-type epithelial tumors. LI-Cadherin antibody is therefore a useful reagent for examining gastrointestinal epithelial differentiation and tissue-specific adhesion profiles.
In cancer-related research, altered expression of Cadherin 17 has been associated with tumor progression and metastatic behavior in gastrointestinal malignancies. LI-Cadherin antibody is widely applied as a marker for identifying tumors of intestinal origin and for distinguishing gastrointestinal-derived carcinomas from non-intestinal epithelial tumors.
This LI-Cadherin antibody, clone CDH17/2614, is designed to recognize Cadherin 17 protein in research applications. Clone CDH17/2614 supports detection of membrane-associated LI-Cadherin expression and is suitable for studies focused on epithelial adhesion, gastrointestinal biology, and tumor characterization.
Optimal dilution of the LI-Cadherin antibody should be determined by the researcher.
A portion of amino acids 200-500 from human Cadherin 17 protein was used as the immunogen for the LI-Cadherin antibody.
Aliquot the LI-Cadherin antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
