Interferon Alpha 1 Antibody IFNA/6689 Staining of Human Tonsil IHC. Immunohistochemistry of FFPE human tonsil tissue using Interferon Alpha 1 Antibody, clone IFNA/6689, at 2 ug/ml in PBS for 30 min at RT. HIER was performed by boiling tissue sections in pH 9 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA for 20 min followed by cooling before staining. Brown immunoreactivity is visible within a subset of cells in the tonsillar tissue, demonstrating detection of IFNA1 under the tested conditions.

Interferon Alpha 1 Antibody IFNA/6689 / IFNA1 Antibody recognizes interferon alpha 1 (IFNA1), a member of the type I interferon family involved in antiviral defense and immune regulation. IFNA1 is one of several closely related human interferon alpha proteins and signals through the shared type I interferon receptor complex composed of IFNAR1 and IFNAR2. Receptor activation initiates JAK-STAT signaling and induces expression of interferon-stimulated genes that contribute to cellular antiviral responses and broader regulation of innate and adaptive immunity.

IFNA1 is produced in response to viral infection and other immune stimuli. Like other interferon alpha family members, it can influence viral replication, antigen presentation, natural killer cell activity, dendritic cell function, and communication among immune cell populations. These activities make interferon alpha signaling an important component of host defense while also connecting the pathway to inflammatory regulation, immune surveillance, and cancer biology.

The human interferon alpha family consists of multiple proteins with substantial sequence similarity, making discrimination among individual subtypes important when subtype-specific biology is being investigated. IFNA1 and IFNA2 share many functional characteristics but are encoded by separate genes and can differ in their biological activities and expression. An IFNA1 Antibody with documented lack of cross-reactivity to IFNA2 therefore provides a useful means of investigating interferon alpha 1 independently of this closely related family member.

Clone IFNA/6689 is a mouse monoclonal antibody generated against recombinant human IFNA1 protein. The antibody recognizes IFNA1 without cross-reactivity to interferon alpha 2, providing subtype-specific recognition within the closely related interferon alpha family.
