FBXW2 Antibody / F-box/WD repeat-containing protein 2 Antibody recognizes an F-box protein that participates in substrate recognition by SCF-type ubiquitin ligase complexes. FBXW2 contains an F-box motif, which supports association with SKP1, and WD-repeat regions that provide surfaces for protein interactions. These features position FBXW2 as a potential specificity factor within the ubiquitin-proteasome system, where selected proteins are marked for regulated degradation.
SCF complexes typically consist of SKP1, the scaffold protein CUL1, the RING protein RBX1, and a variable F-box substrate receptor. The F-box component determines which cellular proteins are recruited, while the remaining machinery coordinates transfer of ubiquitin from a conjugating enzyme. Repeated ubiquitin attachment can direct substrates toward proteasomal degradation, allowing cells to change protein abundance without first altering transcription. Substrate recognition may depend on phosphorylation or other molecular features, but these requirements must be established individually for each receptor-substrate pair.
FBXW2 has been examined in studies of growth-related signaling and protein turnover. Reported candidate substrates and regulatory effects indicate that its activity may influence pathways involved in proliferation and cellular adaptation. However, ubiquitin ligase networks are context dependent: the same substrate may be controlled by several ligases, and an F-box protein's effects can vary with the abundance of its cofactors. Direct biochemical evidence is therefore important when assigning a particular cellular outcome to FBXW2-mediated degradation.
WD repeats commonly fold into beta-propeller structures that create versatile protein-binding platforms. In FBXW2, this architecture helps explain how substrate selection can be coupled to the core ubiquitination machinery. NSJ Bioreagents offers this FBXW2 Antibody to support investigation of substrate-recruitment mechanisms and the role of regulated protein turnover in signaling homeostasis. Understanding which proteins FBXW2 recognizes, and under what conditions, is central to defining its distinct contribution among the many F-box receptors encoded in the genome.
