CD31 Antibody C31.10 / PECAM-1 Monoclonal Antibody recognizes platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1, a transmembrane glycoprotein encoded by the PECAM1 gene. CD31, also called PECAM-1, belongs to the immunoglobulin superfamily of cell adhesion molecules and contains six extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains, a single transmembrane region and a cytoplasmic signaling domain. The protein is prominently expressed by vascular endothelial cells and is also found on platelets, monocytes, neutrophils and subsets of lymphocytes. Its characteristic distribution has established CD31 as an important marker for investigating vascular endothelium, angiogenesis and hematopoietic cell biology.
PECAM-1 participates in homophilic interactions between adjacent endothelial cells and contributes to the organization and stability of endothelial junctions. Its cytoplasmic region contains immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs that undergo phosphorylation and interact with intracellular signaling proteins. Through these adhesive and signaling functions, PECAM1 participates in vascular barrier regulation, mechanotransduction and endothelial responses to inflammatory and mechanical stimuli. A CD31 Antibody C31.10 provides a clone-specific reagent for research into these functions of platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1.
CD31 also contributes to leukocyte transendothelial migration by participating in interactions that facilitate movement of immune cells through endothelial junctions. PECAM1 has additional roles in endothelial migration, angiogenesis and vascular remodeling. These functions make the protein relevant to research involving inflammation, cardiovascular biology, tissue repair, vascular development and tumor angiogenesis. A PECAM-1 Monoclonal Antibody can therefore support investigation of both endothelial organization and the molecular interactions connecting vascular and immune cell biology.
Clone C31.10 has also been included as a component of a CD31 monoclonal antibody cocktail used in published research, providing additional literature history for this clone. This use as part of a multi-clone reagent should be distinguished from studies evaluating C31.10 independently. NSJ Bioreagents provides clone C31.10 for researchers investigating PECAM1 expression and endothelial biology. A CD31 Antibody C31.10 provides a clone-specific tool for studying CD31 and its roles in vascular organization, cell adhesion and immune cell trafficking.
For a Protein Microarray Validated monoclonal antibody with CD31 as the primary designation, see our CD31 Antibody PECAM1/3527 / PECAM-1 Monoclonal Antibody.
Optimal dilution of the CD31 Antibody C31.10 should be determined by the researcher.
1. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM Tris buffer with 1mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min
2. The prediluted format is supplied in a dropper bottle and is optimized for use in IHC. After epitope retrieval step (if required), drip mAb solution onto the tissue section and incubate at RT for 30 min.
Recombinant human protein was used as the immunogen for the CD31 Antibody C31.10.
Store the CD31 Antibody C31.10 at 2-8oC (with azide) or aliquot and store at -20oC or colder (without azide).
