CD13 Antibody RM403 / Cell Surface Aminopeptidase recognizes CD13, a membrane-associated zinc-dependent metalloprotease encoded by the ANPEP gene. CD13 is also known as aminopeptidase N (APN), alanyl aminopeptidase and membrane alanyl aminopeptidase. This multifunctional ectopeptidase removes N-terminal amino acids from peptides and contributes to the processing and regulation of biologically active peptides. CD13 is broadly distributed among epithelial, endothelial and hematopoietic cell populations, with prominent expression in renal and intestinal tissues and cells of the myeloid lineage.
CD13 is an established marker of myeloid differentiation and is expressed by monocytes, granulocytes and myeloid progenitor populations. Its expression is also frequently observed in acute myeloid leukemia and other myeloid malignancies. Beyond hematopoietic biology, ANPEP/CD13 participates in processes associated with peptide metabolism, cell adhesion and migration, angiogenesis and immune regulation. Expression in multiple tumor types has further made CD13 relevant to studies of cancer biology and the tumor microenvironment.
CD13 is a type II transmembrane protein containing a large extracellular catalytic domain. Extensive post-translational glycosylation contributes to an apparent molecular weight of approximately 110-150 kDa, rather than a single discrete molecular weight. This characteristic is particularly relevant when evaluating CD13 expression by Western blot and reflects the highly glycosylated nature of the mature cell surface protein.
Clone RM403 is a recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody generated using a peptide corresponding to residues near the C-terminus of human CD13. The antibody is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemical detection of human CD13 and is Protein Microarray Validated. NSJ Bioreagents provides this CD13 Antibody for research into ANPEP expression, myeloid biology, peptide metabolism and related cellular processes. This recombinant clone provides a defined antibody reagent for investigating the expression and distribution of the CD13 cell surface aminopeptidase.
