CAMK2A Antibody recognizes Calcium/Calmodulin Dependent Protein Kinase II Alpha (CAMK2A), a multifunctional serine/threonine kinase that serves as one of the principal mediators of calcium-dependent intracellular signaling in neurons. Activation occurs when calcium-bound calmodulin binds the regulatory domain of CAMK2A, relieving autoinhibition and initiating kinase activity. Subsequent autophosphorylation allows the enzyme to remain active even after intracellular calcium concentrations decline, enabling CAMK2A to function as a molecular memory switch that integrates transient calcium signals into sustained cellular responses. Consequently, CAMK2A Antibody is widely used to investigate calcium signaling, synaptic plasticity, neuronal communication, and protein phosphorylation.
CAMK2A is expressed predominantly within excitatory neurons of the central nervous system and is especially abundant in the hippocampus and cerebral cortex. The kinase regulates neurotransmitter receptor trafficking, dendritic spine maturation, long-term potentiation, long-term depression, and activity-dependent gene expression, all of which contribute to learning and memory formation. Beyond its well-established neurological functions, CAMK2A also participates in cytoskeletal remodeling, intracellular signaling networks, and regulation of cellular responses to environmental stimuli. Because of these diverse biological activities, CAMK2A Antibody has become an important reagent for neuroscience, signal transduction, and cell biology research.
Aberrant CAMK2A expression or activity has been associated with numerous neurological disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy, autism spectrum disorders, schizophrenia, ischemic brain injury, and intellectual disability. Dysregulated kinase activity can alter synaptic transmission and neuronal survival, contributing to impaired cognition and neurodegeneration. Ongoing investigations continue to evaluate CAMK2A as a biomarker of neuronal dysfunction and as a potential therapeutic target for diseases involving abnormal calcium signaling. Accordingly, CAMK2A Antibody remains valuable for studies of nervous system development, neuronal plasticity, and disease mechanisms.
NSJ Bioreagents offers highly validated CAMK2A Antibody products for reliable detection of endogenous CAMK2A in human and animal samples. These antibodies support investigations into calcium-dependent signaling, neuronal development, synaptic function, protein phosphorylation, learning and memory, and neurodegenerative disease while providing dependable performance across western blotting, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, immunoprecipitation, and related research applications.
