Description

Alpha-Adaptin Antibody / AP2A1 detects the alpha subunit of adaptor protein complex 2 (AP-2), a key component involved in clathrin-mediated endocytosis, membrane trafficking and cargo protein sorting. Alpha-adaptin, encoded by the AP2A1 gene, contributes to the formation of clathrin-coated vesicles by helping connect membrane cargo proteins with the endocytic machinery required for internalization. This mouse monoclonal antibody, clone 100/2, is a well-established research reagent supported by approximately 50 scientific publications studying AP-2 complex biology and cellular transport pathways.

The AP-2 adaptor complex functions at the plasma membrane where it regulates receptor internalization, protein recycling and selective movement of molecules into the cell. Alpha-adaptin provides structural and functional support within this complex, contributing to cargo recognition and assembly of clathrin-coated pits. Alpha-Adaptin Antibody enables researchers to examine AP2A1 localization and expression in studies of vesicle formation, intracellular trafficking and membrane organization.

Clathrin-mediated endocytosis is an essential cellular process involved in nutrient uptake, receptor signaling regulation and maintenance of plasma membrane composition. Alpha-adaptin has been widely studied as a marker of AP-2 adaptor complex activity and is frequently used in investigations of endocytic mechanisms. The extensive publication history of Alpha-Adaptin Antibody clone 100/2 demonstrates its broad use across multiple research areas and experimental models.

Research involving AP2A1 provides insight into cellular pathways controlling receptor availability, protein transport and communication between intracellular compartments. Altered membrane trafficking mechanisms are investigated in neuroscience, cancer biology and general cell biology research. Reliable detection of alpha-adaptin supports analysis of AP-2 complex distribution and function within these systems.

Alpha-Adaptin Antibody applications include detection of AP2A1 expression and localization using methods such as Western blot, immunofluorescence, immunocytochemistry and related protein analysis techniques. NSJ Bioreagents provides Alpha-Adaptin Antibody / AP2A1, clone 100/2, a publication-supported mouse monoclonal antibody for researchers studying adaptor protein complexes, clathrin-mediated endocytosis and vesicle trafficking pathways.

Alpha-Adaptin Antibody detects an AP-2 complex component involved in receptor internalization and vesicle trafficking; additional clathrin adaptor protein research tools are available on our AP2A1 Antibody / Clathrin Adaptor Protein Antibody page.

Application Notes

The stated application concentrations are suggested starting amounts. Titration of the Alpha-Adaptin antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.

Immunogen

AP-2 adaptor polypeptides from bovine brain was used as the immunogen for this Alpha-Adaptin antibody.

Storage

After reconstitution, the Alpha-Adaptin antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20oC. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
