Fatty acid synthase, also called Fas and Fasn, is a large multi enzyme protein complex that catalyzes the synthesis of long chain saturated fatty acids from acetyl coenzyme A and malonyl coenzyme A in the presence of nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate.
