Description

STAT3 (Signal Transducer and Activator of Transcription 3) is a transcription factor that plays a central role in transmitting signals from cytokines, growth factors, and other extracellular stimuli to the nucleus. It belongs to the STAT protein family, which is activated by Janus kinases (JAKs) through phosphorylation. Once phosphorylated, STAT3 dimerizes, translocates to the nucleus, and binds DNA to regulate gene expression.

STAT3 influences a wide range of cellular processes, including proliferation, differentiation, survival, angiogenesis, and immune responses. It is particularly important in maintaining homeostasis during inflammation and immunity. Under normal physiological conditions, STAT3 activation is transient and tightly regulated. However, persistent activation of STAT3 has been implicated in various pathological states, including chronic inflammation, autoimmune diseases, and cancer.

In oncology research, STAT3 is studied extensively due to its oncogenic potential. Constitutive STAT3 activity can promote tumor cell proliferation, inhibit apoptosis, and enhance invasion and metastasis. It also supports tumor progression through effects on the tumor microenvironment, including immune suppression and angiogenesis. Because of these functions, STAT3 remains a key focus in targeted drug discovery and biomarker studies.

Storage

After reconstitution, the STAT3 antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20oC. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
