SRB1 Antibody / SCARB1 Antibody recognizes Scavenger Receptor Class B Member 1 (SCARB1), a cell surface receptor that mediates the selective uptake of cholesterol esters from high-density lipoprotein (HDL) particles. Encoded by the SCARB1 gene, this receptor is a key regulator of reverse cholesterol transport, enabling the movement of excess cholesterol from peripheral tissues to the liver for recycling or excretion. Through this activity, SCARB1 contributes to lipid homeostasis, bile acid synthesis and steroid hormone production. NSJ Bioreagents provides SRB1 antibodies for investigations of lipoprotein metabolism, cardiovascular disease and cholesterol biology.
SCARB1 is expressed most abundantly in hepatocytes, steroidogenic tissues, endothelial cells and macrophages, where it supports cholesterol uptake and membrane lipid regulation. In addition to its well-established role in HDL metabolism, SCARB1 influences endothelial function, inflammatory signaling and cellular responses to oxidative stress. Genetic variation or altered expression of SCARB1 has been linked to dyslipidemia, atherosclerosis and cardiovascular risk, making the receptor an important biomarker in both basic and translational research.
Beyond cardiovascular biology, SCARB1 has emerged as an important molecule in cancer metabolism and infectious disease. Many tumors increase cholesterol uptake to support rapid proliferation, while several viruses exploit SCARB1 during host cell entry. As a result, analysis of SCARB1 expression has become increasingly valuable in studies of tumor biology, viral infection, metabolic disorders and therapeutic development. These diverse functions continue to expand the research applications of this receptor across multiple fields.
An SRB1 Antibody enables reliable detection of SCARB1 protein expression by Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, flow cytometry and related immunoassays. An SCARB1 Antibody is an important tool for investigating cholesterol transport, HDL receptor biology and mechanisms regulating lipid homeostasis.
For additional information on HDL receptor biology and cholesterol transport, see our SRBI Antibody / HDL Receptor Antibody page, which provides an overview of SRBI structure, function and research applications.
Optimal dilution of the SRB1 Antibody / SCARB1 Antibody should be determined by the researcher.
Amino acids KKGSQDKEAIQAYSESLMSPAAKGTVLQEAKL of mouse Scavenger Receptor Class B Member 1 were used as the immunogen for the SRB1 Antibody.
After reconstitution, the SRB1 Antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20oC. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
