Description

Sirtuin 5 Antibody / Mitochondrial Deacylase Antibody recognizes Sirtuin 5 (SIRT5), a nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD)-dependent lysine deacylase that regulates mitochondrial metabolism through the removal of succinyl, malonyl and glutaryl modifications from target proteins. Unlike several other members of the sirtuin family that function primarily as deacetylases, SIRT5 exhibits robust deacylase activity and plays a central role in maintaining metabolic enzyme function. By regulating post-translational protein acylation, SIRT5 influences energy production, amino acid metabolism, fatty acid oxidation and cellular adaptation to metabolic stress. SIRT5 is localized predominantly within mitochondria, although lower levels have also been reported in the cytoplasm and peroxisomes depending on cell type. E. coli-derived recombinant human protein (amino acids D81-S310) was used as the immunogen for the Sirtuin 5 antibody.
