SGK1 Antibody / Serum and Glucocorticoid Regulated Kinase Antibody is designed for the study of a serine/threonine protein kinase that regulates cellular adaptation to hormonal, metabolic, and environmental stress. Serum and Glucocorticoid Regulated Kinase 1 (SGK1) belongs to the AGC family of protein kinases and is rapidly induced by serum, glucocorticoids, mineralocorticoids, growth factors, insulin, and diverse cellular stress signals. Once activated through phosphoinositide 3-kinase and mTOR signaling pathways, SGK1 phosphorylates numerous downstream substrates involved in ion transport, cell survival, proliferation, metabolism, and transcriptional regulation.
SGK1 is best known for controlling epithelial sodium transport by regulating the epithelial sodium channel (ENaC), making it an important mediator of renal sodium reabsorption, potassium homeostasis, and blood pressure regulation. The kinase also influences glucose metabolism, cell cycle progression, apoptosis, autophagy, and immune cell function through phosphorylation of proteins including FOXO transcription factors, NDRG1, GSK3, and ion transporters. Because SGK1 integrates hormonal and stress-responsive signaling pathways, it contributes to physiological processes in the kidney, heart, brain, liver, and many other tissues.
Aberrant SGK1 activity has been implicated in numerous diseases including hypertension, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, obesity, fibrosis, inflammatory disorders, and multiple cancers. Elevated SGK1 expression can promote tumor cell survival, proliferation, migration, therapeutic resistance, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition in several malignancies. Consequently, SGK1 has emerged as an attractive therapeutic target, with selective inhibitors being investigated for oncology, cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders, and immune-mediated diseases. Continued research is expanding understanding of how SGK1 coordinates signaling networks that influence both normal physiology and disease progression.
An SGK1 Antibody is a valuable reagent for detecting endogenous SGK1 expression by western blotting, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, immunoprecipitation, flow cytometry, and related laboratory applications. Because SGK1 regulates hormone-responsive signaling, ion transport, and cell survival pathways, an SGK1 Antibody supports investigations of kinase biology, stress responses, metabolism, cardiovascular physiology, kidney function, and cancer research.

Optimal dilution of the SGK1 Antibody / Serum and Glucocorticoid Regulated Kinase Antibody should be determined by the researcher.
Amino acids LIAFMKQRRMGLNDFIQKIANNS from the human protein were used as the immunogen for the SGK1 antibody.
After reconstitution, the SGK1 antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20oC. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
