Alpha-sarcoglycan, or Dystroglycan 2, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SGCA gene. This gene encodes a component of the dystrophin-glycoprotein complex (DGC), which is critical to the stability of muscle fiber membranes and to the linking of the actin cytoskeleton to the extracellular matrix. Its expression is thought to be restricted to striated muscle. Mutations in this gene result in type 2D autosomal recessive limb-girdle muscular dystrophy. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
Optimal dilution of the SGCA antibody should be determined by the researcher.
Amino acids 24-387 of human SGCA were used as the immunogen for the SGCA antibody.
After reconstitution, the SGCA antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20oC. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
