S100 calcium binding protein P (S100P), also known as migration inducing gene 9 (MIG9), is a member of the S100 family of EF-hand calcium-binding proteins encoded by the S100P gene. S100P Antibody for WB enables detection of S100 Calcium Binding Protein P in cell and tissue lysates using western blotting, allowing researchers to evaluate S100P protein expression levels in experimental samples. This small calcium-binding protein participates in signaling pathways that regulate cellular proliferation, migration, survival, and cytoskeletal dynamics.
Western blot analysis is widely used to examine S100P expression across different cell types and tissues. Because S100P is a relatively small intracellular protein, western blotting allows clear detection of the target protein within complex lysate preparations. Detection of migration inducing gene 9 protein by western blot enables comparison of S100P expression levels between normal and diseased tissues as well as across different experimental conditions.
Studies investigating epithelial tumor biology frequently evaluate S100P expression using western blot techniques. Increased S100P expression has been reported in several epithelial malignancies including pancreatic, breast, prostate, and lung cancers. Western blot analysis allows researchers to quantify S100P protein levels and confirm expression changes observed in transcriptomic or proteomic studies.
The MIG9 protein can interact with intracellular signaling partners and extracellular receptors such as receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE), contributing to pathways that regulate cell migration and inflammatory signaling. Because these pathways often involve changes in protein abundance or signaling activity, western blot detection of S100P provides an effective approach for monitoring protein expression during cellular signaling experiments.
S100P Antibody for WB / MIG9 Antibody for Western Blotting (clone S100P/7373) supports detection of S100 Calcium Binding Protein P in research applications focused on protein expression analysis. When applied to cell or tissue lysates, the antibody allows researchers to evaluate S100P protein levels and investigate calcium-regulated signaling pathways associated with epithelial cell biology and tumor progression.
Optimal dilution of the S100P Antibody for WB should be determined by the researcher.
A recombinant partial protein sequence (within amino acids 1-95) from the human protein was used as the immunogen for the S100P Antibody for WB.
