RPL3 Antibody / Large ribosomal subunit protein uL3 Antibody detects RPL3, also designated uL3 under the universal ribosomal protein nomenclature. It is a component of the large 60S subunit of cytoplasmic ribosomes. Ribosomes translate messenger RNA into polypeptides, and their activity depends on the coordinated assembly of ribosomal RNA and numerous ribosomal proteins into structurally precise complexes.
uL3 is located near functionally important regions of the large ribosomal subunit and contributes to the architecture of the ribosome. The catalytic peptidyl-transferase activity of the ribosome is carried out by ribosomal RNA, but ribosomal proteins help stabilize the surrounding structure and support productive translation. RPL3 is therefore integral to the integrity of the translation machinery rather than a stand-alone peptide-bond-forming enzyme.
Ribosome production begins in the nucleolus, where precursor ribosomal RNAs are transcribed and processed while ribosomal proteins are assembled into developing subunits. Disturbances in ribosome biogenesis can influence cell growth and activate stress-response pathways. RPL3 has also been studied in relation to the regulation of cell-cycle and stress-associated programs, although proposed extraribosomal activities should be considered separately from its core structural role.
Protein synthesis is especially demanding in cells undergoing rapid growth or differentiation, making the coordination of ribosome assembly and translational capacity biologically important. RPL3 participates in this process as part of the 60S subunit and helps maintain the structure needed for efficient mRNA translation. NSJ Bioreagents provides the RPL3 Antibody for studies centered on ribosomal proteins and translation. An RPL3 Antibody can aid investigation of large-subunit organization and the cellular regulation of protein synthesis.
