Recombinant Villin antibody is a specialized reagent for detecting villin 1, an actin binding protein encoded by the VIL1 gene. Villin is expressed predominantly in epithelial cells of the gastrointestinal and renal tracts, where it localizes to the brush border of absorptive cells. It plays key roles in actin filament organization, cytoskeletal remodeling, and epithelial polarity. Because of its restricted expression, villin is a useful marker for intestinal and renal epithelia.
Villin has multifunctional effects on actin dynamics. It can sever, cap, and bundle actin filaments, enabling it to control microvilli structure in absorptive epithelia. By regulating actin organization, villin contributes to epithelial morphology and the absorptive capacity of the intestine and kidney. Altered villin expression is linked to epithelial injury, inflammatory bowel disease, and cancer progression.
The Recombinant Villin antibody clone rVIL1/1325 provides reliable recognition of this actin regulatory protein. Recombinant production ensures consistent performance across batches, minimizing variability in experimental results. Clone rVIL1/1325 has been applied in gastrointestinal research to study epithelial differentiation, in nephrology to examine brush border organization, and in oncology to investigate epithelial tumor biology. Its specificity makes it a dependable tool across research areas.
Research using clone rVIL1/1325 has clarified how villin expression marks intestinal and renal epithelia. In diagnostic pathology, villin is often used to identify gastrointestinal origin in metastatic carcinomas. In basic science, it continues to inform understanding of how actin cytoskeleton regulation supports epithelial structure and function. This antibody contributes to both fundamental and applied investigations.
NSJ Bioreagents supplies this Recombinant Villin antibody to enable high quality research into epithelial biology and disease. The protein is also referenced as VIL1 antibody, brush border actin binding protein antibody, intestinal epithelial marker antibody, and villin 1 cytoskeletal regulator antibody. These alternate terms illustrate the different contexts in which villin is studied.
The stated application concentrations are suggested starting points. Titration of the recombinant Villin antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
1. The prediluted format is supplied in a dropper bottle and is optimized for use in IHC. After epitope retrieval step (if required), drip mAb solution onto the tissue section and incubate at RT for 30 min.
Amino acids 179-311 from the human protein were used as the immunogen for this recombinant Villin antibody.
Store the recombinant Villin antibody at 2-8oC (with azide) or aliquot and store at -20oC or colder (without azide).
