MGB1 Antibody clone MGB/4811R immunohistochemistry of human lactating breast tissue. FFPE human lactating breast tissue was stained with MGB1 antibody (clone MGB/4811R). HRP-DAB brown chromogenic signal highlights strong cytoplasmic staining in secretory epithelial cells lining mammary glandular structures and luminal secretions, consistent with high expression of Mammaglobin A / SCGB2A2 in lactating breast epithelium, while surrounding stromal cells show minimal staining. Heat-induced epitope retrieval was performed by boiling tissue sections in pH 9 10mM Tris with 1mM EDTA for 20 minutes followed by cooling prior to staining.
IHC staining of FFPE human lactating breast tissue with MGB1 antibody (clone MGB/4811R). HIER: boil tissue sections in pH 9 10mM Tris with 1mM EDTA for 20 min and allow to cool before testing.

Description

Mammaglobin A (SCGB2A2) is a secreted epithelial glycoprotein encoded by the SCGB2A2 gene and belongs to the secretoglobin family of small secreted proteins associated with mammary epithelial differentiation. MGB1 Antibody recognizes Mammaglobin A and targets a protein commonly referred to in the literature as Mammaglobin, Mammaglobin A, or SCGB2A2, a breast-associated secreted protein expressed primarily by mammary epithelial cells.

MGB1 antibody, also referred to as Mammaglobin A antibody or SCGB2A2 antibody in the literature, detects a protein that is highly associated with mammary gland epithelial cells. Mammaglobin A is produced by luminal epithelial cells within mammary glandular structures and is secreted into glandular lumens as part of epithelial secretory activity. This relatively restricted tissue expression pattern makes Mammaglobin an important molecular marker for studies of mammary epithelial biology and breast tumor origin.

Structurally, Mammaglobin A contains conserved cysteine residues typical of secretoglobin family proteins that contribute to protein folding and stability within the secretory pathway. As a secreted epithelial protein, Mammaglobin is commonly detected within the cytoplasm of mammary epithelial cells and may also be present within glandular luminal secretions depending on the tissue architecture and experimental preparation. These characteristics make Mammaglobin a useful molecular indicator of epithelial differentiation in mammary gland tissue.

Expression of Mammaglobin A is frequently observed in breast epithelial cells and breast carcinoma specimens, where it reflects the differentiated state of mammary epithelial tumor cells. In breast tumors, Mammaglobin expression is often detected within epithelial tumor cell populations forming glandular structures, while surrounding stromal cells typically show little to no expression. These expression patterns have led to Mammaglobin being widely studied in research focused on breast cancer biology and epithelial tumor characterization.

MGB1 Antibody (clone MGB/4811R) is a recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody developed to detect Mammaglobin A / SCGB2A2 in protein expression studies. Antibodies against Mammaglobin are commonly used to investigate mammary epithelial cell differentiation, tumor cell identity, and protein localization in breast tissue and breast cancer research models.

Application Notes

Optimal dilution of the MGB1 antibody should be determined by the researcher.
