Description

Recombinant EpCAM Antibody / Extracellular Domain recognizes Epithelial Cell Adhesion Molecule (EPCAM), also known as EpCAM, CD326, and TACSTD1, through an epitope located within the extracellular region of the protein. EPCAM is a transmembrane glycoprotein expressed on the surface of many epithelial cells, where it functions in cell-cell adhesion, epithelial integrity, tissue organization, and intracellular signaling. Because the extracellular domain is exposed on the cell surface, antibodies directed against this region are particularly useful for detection of native EPCAM expression in intact cells and tissues. Recombinant antibody production provides excellent specificity, consistency, and lot-to-lot reproducibility for applications requiring reliable recognition of cell surface EPCAM.

EPCAM is localized primarily to the plasma membrane, where its extracellular domain mediates interactions between neighboring epithelial cells and contributes to maintenance of tissue architecture. In addition to its adhesive functions, EPCAM participates in signaling pathways that regulate cellular proliferation, differentiation, migration, and survival. These activities make EPCAM one of the most widely used markers for identification of epithelial lineage cells and evaluation of epithelial differentiation status. Recognition of the extracellular domain allows researchers to assess membrane-associated EPCAM expression while preserving the native localization and accessibility of the protein.

Because EPCAM is highly expressed by many epithelial-derived malignancies, extracellular domain-specific antibodies are widely utilized in cancer research and translational studies. Surface detection of EPCAM enables characterization of carcinoma cells, evaluation of epithelial differentiation, and isolation of circulating tumor cells from blood samples. Researchers frequently employ recombinant extracellular domain antibodies to identify epithelial tumor populations, perform flow cytometric analysis, and investigate cell surface marker expression in cancer models. These applications have established EPCAM as one of the most important epithelial cell surface markers in oncology research.

Beyond cancer biology, EPCAM plays important roles in stem cell biology, epithelial regeneration, tissue repair, and developmental processes. Expression is often associated with epithelial progenitor populations and actively proliferating epithelial compartments. Detection of the extracellular domain enables researchers to identify, isolate, and characterize epithelial cell populations in organoid systems, regenerative medicine studies, and developmental biology investigations. The accessibility of the extracellular region makes these antibodies particularly valuable for live-cell applications and cell sorting workflows.

At NSJ Bioreagents, we provide highly validated recombinant antibodies for cancer research, stem cell biology, developmental biology, and cell biology applications. Recombinant EpCAM Antibody / Extracellular Domain is useful for investigating epithelial cell populations, epithelial-derived tumors, circulating tumor cells, epithelial differentiation, tissue organization, and cell surface marker expression. Continued research into EPCAM is advancing our understanding of epithelial biology, regenerative processes, and disease progression.

Explore our EpCAM Antibody / Epithelial Cell Marker Antibody page for additional validation data and applications involving epithelial cell identification, tissue organization, and epithelial-derived tumor research.

Application Notes

Titering of the recombinant EpCAM antibody may be required for optimal performance.

1. The prediluted format is supplied in a dropper bottle and is optimized for use in IHC. After epitope retrieval step (if required), drip mAb solution onto the tissue section and incubate at RT for 30 min.

Immunogen

A portion of amino acids 100-224 (extracellular domain) was used as the immunogen for the recombinant EpCAM antibody.

Storage

Store the recombinant EpCAM antibody at 2-8oC (with azide) or aliquot and store at -20oC or colder (without azide).
