Progesterone Antibody, clone 6-5E-3F, is a monoclonal antibody developed for detection of progesterone, an important steroid hormone involved in endocrine signaling, reproductive biology and pregnancy-associated processes. Specificity testing by ELISA demonstrates selective recognition of progesterone with limited cross-reactivity against related steroid compounds. Relative antibody reactivity was observed with Progesterone-11a-HMS-BSA (100%), 5-beta-Pregnane-3,20-dione (48%), 5-alpha-Pregnane-3,20-dione (26.4%), 17-alpha-Hydroxyprogesterone (2.5%) and 20-alpha-Hydroxyprogesterone (0.04%).
Progesterone belongs to the steroid hormone family and is produced through biosynthetic pathways beginning with cholesterol conversion to pregnenolone. It is generated by several endocrine tissues, including the corpus luteum, adrenal cortex and placenta. Progesterone functions as a major regulator of female reproductive physiology by supporting uterine preparation, endometrial changes and biological pathways required for pregnancy maintenance.
Studies of progesterone provide important insight into hormone regulation, ovarian function and communication between endocrine tissues. In normal ovarian physiology, luteinized theca and granulosa cells contribute to progesterone production following ovulation. Analysis of progesterone levels and activity is widely used in reproductive biology research, endocrine pathway studies and investigations of hormone-dependent cellular responses.
Progesterone Antibody, clone 6-5E-3F, provides researchers with a tool for studying progesterone biology and steroid hormone regulation. NSJ Bioreagents offers this Progesterone Antibody for research involving reproductive endocrinology, ovarian biology, hormone signaling pathways and steroid hormone analysis.
Optimal dilution of the Progesterone antibody should be determined by the researcher.
Progesterone hemisuccinate conjugated to bovine serum albumin was used as the immunogen for the Progesterone antibody.
Store the Progesterone antibody at 2-8oC (with azide) or aliquot and store at -20oC or colder (without azide).
