Progesterone Antibody detects progesterone, a steroid hormone involved in reproductive biology, endocrine regulation and pregnancy maintenance. This monoclonal antibody is specific for progesterone and demonstrates minimal cross-reactivity with related steroid compounds by ELISA analysis. Relative reactivity was observed with Progesterone-11a-HMS-BSA (100%), 5-beta-Pregnane-3,20-dione (48%), 5-alpha-Pregnane-3,20-dione (26.4%), 17-alpha-Hydroxyprogesterone (2.5%) and 20-alpha-Hydroxyprogesterone (0.04%).
Progesterone is synthesized from the cholesterol-derived precursor pregnenolone and is primarily produced by the corpus luteum, adrenal cortex and placenta. As a key reproductive hormone, progesterone regulates endometrial preparation for embryo implantation and contributes to the establishment and maintenance of pregnancy. During pregnancy, placental progesterone production supports uterine function and promotes mammary gland development.
Progesterone signaling plays an important role in ovarian function, reproductive cycles and endocrine system regulation. Measurement and detection of progesterone levels are widely used in reproductive biology research, hormone regulation studies and investigations of endocrine function. Progesterone expression is also studied in relation to hormone-responsive tissues and ovarian tumor research.
