P-Cadherin Antibody / Epithelial Cell Adhesion Antibody detects a calcium-dependent adhesion molecule encoded by the CDH3 gene. P-Cadherin, also known as Cadherin 3 or placental cadherin, is a member of the classical cadherin family of transmembrane proteins that regulate cell-cell adhesion and tissue organization. Like other cadherins, P-Cadherin contains extracellular cadherin repeats that mediate calcium-dependent interactions between neighboring cells and an intracellular domain that connects with catenin-associated signaling networks. Through these functions, P-Cadherin contributes to epithelial integrity, cell communication and maintenance of normal tissue architecture.
P-Cadherin expression is found in select epithelial tissues, including basal cell populations where it participates in cellular organization and differentiation. The protein plays an important role in adherens junction formation by linking extracellular adhesive interactions with intracellular cytoskeletal regulation. Changes in P-Cadherin expression can influence cell migration, proliferation and interactions between epithelial cells and their surrounding environment. A P-Cadherin Antibody / Epithelial Cell Adhesion Antibody is commonly used to investigate cadherin-mediated adhesion pathways, epithelial biology and mechanisms controlling tissue structure.
Research has identified P-Cadherin as an important marker in cancer biology due to altered CDH3 expression in several tumor types. Increased P-Cadherin levels have been reported in breast, ovarian, pancreatic and other cancers, where changes in adhesion signaling may contribute to tumor progression, invasion and cellular plasticity. Because cadherin proteins influence both physical cell attachment and intracellular signaling pathways, analysis of P-Cadherin expression provides insight into tumor phenotype, epithelial remodeling and cancer-associated changes in cell behavior.
P-Cadherin is also studied in developmental biology and epithelial stem cell research due to its association with basal epithelial compartments and specialized cell populations. Mutations affecting CDH3 have been linked to inherited disorders involving hair and retinal development, demonstrating the importance of normal P-Cadherin function in tissue maintenance. Its roles in adhesion, differentiation and cellular organization make P-Cadherin an important target for studies involving epithelial homeostasis and disease-related changes in tissue structure.
NSJ Bioreagents offers P-Cadherin Antibody / Epithelial Cell Adhesion Antibody products for researchers studying cadherin family proteins, epithelial markers and cell adhesion pathways. These antibodies support applications such as Western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and flow cytometry analysis of P-Cadherin expression and localization. P-Cadherin Antibody / Epithelial Cell Adhesion Antibody provides a valuable tool for investigating epithelial cell adhesion mechanisms, tumor biology and regulation of cell-cell communication.
Explore additional regulators of cell structure and communication in our Cell Biology Antibodies page, including targets involved in epithelial cell adhesion, junction formation and intracellular signaling pathways.
Optimal dilution of the P-Cadherin Antibody / Epithelial Cell Adhesion Antibody should be determined by the researcher.
Recombinant human protein (amino acids Q236-E645) was used as the immunogen for the P-Cadherin antibody.
After reconstitution, the P-Cadherin antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20oC. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
