MFRN2 is mitochondrial iron transporter that mediates iron uptake. It is probably required for heme synthesis of hemoproteins and Fe-S cluster assembly in non-erythroid cells. The iron delivered into the mitochondria, presumably as Fe(2+), is then probably delivered to ferrochelatase to catalyze Fe(2+) incorporation into protoprophyrin IX to make heme.
The stated application concentrations are suggested starting points. Titration of the Mitoferrin-2 antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
A portion of amino acids 36-64 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for the Mitoferrin-2 antibody.
Aliquot the Mitoferrin-2 antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
