LGALS13 Antibody in Human Placenta IHC. Immunohistochemistry testing of LGALS13 Antibody / Pregnancy-Associated Galectin in FFPE human placenta. Heat-induced epitope retrieval was performed by boiling tissue sections in either 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9, or 10 mM citrate buffer, pH 6, for 10-20 min. This LGALS13 Antibody demonstrates placental staining consistent with the strongly placenta-associated expression of galectin-13.
Purified LGALS13 Antibody SDS-PAGE. Electrophoretic analysis of purified, BSA-free LGALS13 Antibody / Pregnancy-Associated Galectin was performed to confirm antibody integrity and purity. The purified mouse monoclonal antibody demonstrates the expected immunoglobulin protein profile under the tested conditions.

Description

LGALS13 Antibody / Pregnancy-Associated Galectin recognizes galectin-13, a beta-galactoside-binding lectin encoded by the LGALS13 gene. Also known as PP13 or placental protein 13, galectin-13 belongs to the galectin family of carbohydrate-binding proteins involved in cellular interactions and regulatory processes. The approximately 16 kDa monomer can form a disulfide-linked homodimer of approximately 32 kDa, a characteristic relevant to the biochemical detection of this protein.

LGALS13 is strongly associated with the placenta and is particularly expressed by syncytiotrophoblasts. Galectin-13 can be released from placental tissue into the maternal circulation and has been investigated for roles in trophoblast biology, placental development and regulation of the maternal-fetal interface. Its highly placenta-associated expression distinguishes LGALS13 from many other members of the galectin family.

Galectin-13 has also been studied for its potential immunoregulatory activity during pregnancy. Research suggests that the protein can influence maternal immune-cell behavior and may contribute to the specialized immune environment required for successful placentation. Altered placental expression and maternal circulating levels of PP13 have been investigated in association with preeclampsia and other pregnancy complications, making LGALS13 relevant to studies of placental dysfunction and maternal-fetal health.

Clone PP13/1165 is a mouse monoclonal antibody generated against a recombinant human LGALS13 fragment corresponding to amino acids 23-134 and purified by Protein G affinity chromatography.
