KLK5, commonly known as Kallikrein 5 or stratum corneum tryptic enzyme (SCTE), is a secreted serine protease involved in epidermal barrier maintenance, epithelial differentiation, desquamation, and protease-mediated signaling regulation within stratified epithelial tissues.
