KCNIP2 Antibody KCNIP2/7588 / EF-Hand Calcium-Binding Protein Antibody recognizes potassium voltage-gated channel interacting protein 2, a calcium-binding protein encoded by the KCNIP2 gene. KCNIP2, commonly called KChIP2, belongs to the KChIP family of calcium sensor proteins and functions as an auxiliary component of voltage-gated Kv4 potassium channel complexes. Members of this family contain conserved EF-hand motifs that provide the structural basis for their calcium-binding properties.
KCNIP2 interacts with the cytoplasmic amino-terminal regions of Kv4 alpha subunits and can influence channel trafficking, membrane expression and gating behavior. Through these interactions, KCNIP2 contributes to regulation of rapidly inactivating A-type potassium currents. These currents participate in control of membrane excitability in multiple cell types and are particularly important to electrical activity in the heart and nervous system.
KCNIP2 is prominently expressed in cardiac tissue, where it contributes to the transient outward potassium current involved in shaping cardiac action potentials and repolarization. Expression has also been documented in the brain and other tissues. Changes in KCNIP2 expression or function have been investigated in cardiac electrical remodeling, arrhythmia-related mechanisms and regulation of cellular excitability. Its combination of EF-hand calcium-binding properties and ion channel interactions makes KCNIP2 useful for studies connecting intracellular calcium sensing with potassium channel regulation.
Clone KCNIP2/7588 is a mouse monoclonal antibody generated against a recombinant partial human KCNIP2 protein from within amino acids 1-270. This KCNIP2 Antibody has been validated for immunohistochemical detection in human tissue. NSJ Bioreagents provides clone KCNIP2/7588 for research into KCNIP2 expression, calcium-binding protein biology and ion channel regulation. An EF-Hand Calcium-Binding Protein Antibody can support investigation of KCNIP2 without limiting the reagent to neuronal applications, consistent with the broader tissue biology of this protein.
For additional information on KChIP2 biology and broader cell, tissue and species validation, visit our KChIP2 Antibody / Kv4 Potassium Channel Regulator Antibody page.
Optimal dilution of the KCNIP2 Antibody KCNIP2/7588 / EF-Hand Calcium-Binding Protein Antibody should be determined by the researcher.
A recombinant partial protein (within amino acids 1-270) from the human protein was used as the immunogen for the KCNIP2 antibody.
Aliquot the KCNIP2 antibody and store frozen at -20oC or colder. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
