Insulin receptor substrate 1 is a signalling adapter protein that in humans is encoded by the IRS1 gene. This gene exhibited no intrinsic enzyme activity, and it can serve as a docking protein involved in binding and activating other signal transduction molecules after being phosphorylated on tyrosine by insulin receptor kinase. IRS-1 plays a key role in transmitting signals from the insulin and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) receptors to intracellular pathways PI3K/Akt and Erk MAP kinase pathways. It also plays important biological function for both metabolic and mitogenic (growth promoting) pathways. In addition to those, IRS-1 is a key regulator of PI3K within malignant cells.
The stated application concentrations are suggested starting amounts. Titration of the IRS-1 antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
An amino acid sequence from the N-terminus of mouse Insulin receptor substrate 1 (WYQALLQLHNRAKAHHD) was used as the immunogen for this IRS-1 antibody (100% rat homology).
After reconstitution, the IRS-1 antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20oC. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
