Interferon-alpha Antibody 278CT1 Detection of Recombinant Human Interferon Alpha WB. Western blot analysis of recombinant human interferon alpha using Interferon-alpha Antibody, clone 278CT1. A prominent immunoreactive band is detected at approximately 20 kDa, within the expected molecular weight range for human interferon alpha. The discrete target signal and limited additional background support detection of Type I Interferon under the tested conditions.

Description

Interferon-alpha Antibody 278CT1 / Type I Interferon Antibody recognizes interferon alpha, a group of closely related cytokines belonging to the type I interferon family. Interferon alpha proteins are important mediators of innate immune defense and are produced in response to viral infection and other immune stimuli. Like other type I interferons, interferon alpha signals through the heterodimeric IFNAR1 and IFNAR2 receptor complex, activating intracellular pathways that regulate antiviral defense, immune activity, and cellular responses to infection.

Interferon alpha signaling primarily activates the JAK-STAT pathway, leading to formation of transcriptional complexes that induce a broad collection of interferon-stimulated genes. The proteins encoded by these genes participate in mechanisms that restrict viral replication, alter cellular metabolism, regulate protein synthesis, and modify immune-cell activity. Interferon alpha also influences antigen presentation, natural killer cell function, dendritic cell activity, and communication between innate and adaptive immune responses.

The human interferon alpha family contains multiple closely related proteins encoded by distinct genes. Although these family members share substantial sequence and functional similarity, individual interferon alpha subtypes can differ in receptor interactions, biological potency, expression patterns, and cellular effects. Type I Interferon biology is therefore investigated across virology, immunology, inflammatory signaling, host defense, and cancer research. Reagents recognizing interferon alpha can support studies examining this broader cytokine system and its role in coordinating immune responses.

Clone 278CT1 is a mouse monoclonal antibody generated using recombinant human interferon alpha protein as the immunogen. NSJ Bioreagents offers this Interferon-alpha Antibody for researchers investigating interferon expression, innate immunity, and type I interferon biology. An Interferon-alpha Antibody provides a clone-defined reagent for studying this important family of immunoregulatory cytokines and their relationship to antiviral and innate immune responses.
