Inhibitor of DNA Binding 4 Antibody PCRP-ID4-1A10 / DNA-Binding Protein Inhibitor ID-4 Antibody recognizes ID4, a member of the inhibitor of DNA binding/inhibitor of differentiation family of helix-loop-helix proteins. The ID family consists of ID1, ID2, ID3, and ID4, which function as regulators of basic helix-loop-helix transcription factors. Although ID4 contains an HLH domain that enables protein-protein interactions, it lacks the basic DNA-binding region required for direct sequence-specific recognition of DNA.
ID4 can heterodimerize with basic helix-loop-helix proteins and prevent formation of transcriptionally active DNA-binding complexes. This dominant-negative mechanism allows Inhibitor of DNA Binding 4 to influence transcriptional programs governing cellular differentiation and lineage determination. The effects of ID4 are highly dependent on cellular context and the transcriptional regulatory proteins with which it interacts.
ID4 has important roles in development and cell-fate regulation and has been studied in neural, mammary, reproductive, and other biological systems. Its ability to influence differentiation programs also makes DNA-Binding Protein Inhibitor ID-4 relevant to stem and progenitor cell research. Changes in ID4 expression can alter the balance between maintenance of an undifferentiated cellular state and progression toward specialized cell lineages.
ID4 is additionally studied in cancer biology, where its functions appear to vary among tumor types and molecular contexts. Research has investigated altered ID4 expression and regulation in relation to cellular proliferation, differentiation, tumor suppression, and malignant progression. These context-dependent effects distinguish ID4 from a simple universal promoter or inhibitor of tumor development and make its regulation an active area of cancer research.
Clone PCRP-ID4-1A10 is a mouse monoclonal antibody generated against a recombinant human ID4 sequence within amino acids 62-112. The antibody is Protein Microarray Validated using a HuProt array containing more than 19,000 full-length human proteins. NSJ Bioreagents offers this Inhibitor of DNA Binding 4 Antibody as a clone-defined reagent for investigating ID4 biology. An Inhibitor of DNA Binding 4 Antibody can support research into transcriptional regulation, differentiation, development, cell-fate determination, and ID4-associated cancer mechanisms.
For an alternative Protein Microarray Validated monoclonal clone targeting ID4, see our ID4 Antibody PCRP-ID4-1A1 / Inhibitor of Differentiation 4 Antibody page.
Optimal dilution of the Inhibitor of DNA Binding 4 Antibody PCRP-ID4-1A10 / DNA-Binding Protein Inhibitor ID-4 Antibody should be determined by the researcher.
A recombinant partial protein sequence (within amino acids 62-112) from the human protein was used as the immunogen for the Inhibitor of DNA Binding 4 Antibody PCRP-ID4-1A10.
