IL-1 Receptor Antagonist Antibody recognizes IL1RN, an endogenous inhibitor of interleukin 1 signaling. Encoded by the IL1RN gene, interleukin 1 receptor antagonist belongs to the interleukin 1 cytokine family and helps regulate inflammatory responses by opposing the biological activity of the proinflammatory cytokines IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta.
IL1RN competes with IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta for binding to interleukin 1 receptor type 1 (IL1R1). Unlike these receptor agonists, IL-1 receptor antagonist does not initiate the same productive downstream signaling response. Receptor occupancy by IL1RN can therefore limit activation of pathways including NF-kappaB and MAPKs, providing an endogenous mechanism for controlling IL-1-driven inflammatory signaling.
The IL1RN gene produces several alternatively spliced transcripts encoding distinct protein isoforms, including secreted and intracellular forms. Through these different forms, IL1RN can contribute to regulation of IL-1 activity in multiple cellular environments. The balance between IL-1 receptor agonists and IL1RN is relevant to immune-cell activation, tissue responses to injury, and the persistence or resolution of inflammatory responses.
This rabbit polyclonal antibody was generated against a recombinant region corresponding to amino acids 26-177 of human IL1RN. As an IL1RN Antibody, it provides a reagent for investigating expression of this endogenous regulator of the interleukin 1 signaling system. NSJ Bioreagents supplies this antibody for research use only.
An IL-1 Receptor Antagonist Antibody can be used to investigate IL1RN expression and molecular mechanisms regulating cytokine signaling, innate immune responses, and inflammation.
For a monoclonal clone with protein microarray specificity validation, see our IL1RN Antibody IL1RA/4716 / Interleukin-1 Receptor Antagonist Antibody page.
Optimal dilution of the IL-1 Receptor Antagonist Antibody / IL1RN Antibody should be determined by the researcher.
A recombinant protein corresponding to amino acids R26-E177 was used as the immunogen for the IL-1 Receptor Antagonist Antibody.
After reconstitution, the IL-1 Receptor Antagonist Antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20oC. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
