IL-31 Antibody in Human Tonsil Lymphoid and Epithelial Regions by IHC. Immunohistochemistry of FFPE human tonsil sections using IL-31 Antibody at 2 ug/ml. The image shows heterogeneous predominantly cytoplasmic brown staining across lymphoid cells, with stronger immunoreactivity visible in epithelial and stromal structures toward the tissue periphery. Dense lymphoid regions show comparatively weaker staining, producing clear regional contrast. HIER was performed using EDTA buffer at pH 8.0. This staining demonstrates tissue localization using the Interleukin 31 Polyclonal Antibody.
IL-31 Antibody in Human Tonsil Lymphoid Follicles by IHC. Immunohistochemistry of FFPE human tonsil sections using IL-31 Antibody at 2 ug/ml. The image shows heterogeneous cytoplasmic immunoreactivity within the lymphoid tissue, with stronger brown staining in lighter interfollicular and follicular cell populations and comparatively weak staining within densely packed lymphocyte-rich regions. This second field provides a complementary view of IL-31 distribution within human tonsil. HIER was performed using EDTA buffer at pH 8.0, supporting tissue-based validation of the Interleukin 31 Polyclonal Antibody.
IL-31 Antibody in Human, Rat and Mouse Samples by WB. Western blot analysis using IL-31 Antibody with 30 ug of reduced lysate per lane. Lane 1: human K562 cells; lane 2: human SH-SY5Y cells; lane 3: human Caco-2 cells; lane 4: rat testis; lane 5: rat PC-12 cells; lane 6: mouse testis; lane 7: mouse RAW264.7 cells. A strong band is detected at approximately 30-35 kDa across all seven samples, compared with the calculated IL-31 molecular weight of 18.2 kDa. The higher apparent molecular weight may reflect post-translational modification and/or migration characteristics of endogenous IL-31. The result demonstrates cross-species detection with this Interleukin 31 Polyclonal Antibody.

Description

IL-31 Antibody / Interleukin 31 Polyclonal Antibody recognizes interleukin 31, a cytokine belonging to the IL-6 cytokine family. IL-31 is encoded by the IL31 gene and is produced predominantly by activated CD4+ T cells, particularly cells associated with type 2 immune responses. The cytokine participates in communication between immune cells, epithelial tissues and sensory neurons and has been extensively investigated for its roles in inflammation, barrier-tissue biology and pruritus.

IL-31 signals through a heterodimeric receptor composed of IL31RA and oncostatin M receptor beta (OSMR). Ligand binding activates intracellular signaling pathways that include JAK/STAT, PI3K/AKT and MAPK cascades. Through these pathways, IL-31 can influence cytokine production, cellular differentiation and responses within epithelial and immune cell populations. The distribution of its receptor components allows IL-31 signaling to affect multiple tissues and provides a molecular connection between immune activation and tissue responses.

Interleukin 31 is particularly associated with inflammatory skin biology and itch. Elevated IL-31 signaling has been investigated in atopic dermatitis, prurigo nodularis and other disorders characterized by chronic pruritus and inflammation. IL-31 can act on sensory neurons expressing its receptor complex, providing a direct mechanism through which immune-derived signals can contribute to the sensation of itch. An Interleukin 31 Polyclonal Antibody can therefore support research into cytokine-mediated communication between immune, epithelial and neuronal systems.

IL-31 is also studied in allergic inflammation and other immune-mediated conditions. Its biological effects depend on the cellular environment, receptor expression and interactions with other cytokine networks. Investigation of IL-31 expression can contribute to understanding the regulation of type 2 immune responses and the mechanisms linking inflammatory signaling with changes in peripheral tissues.

NSJ Bioreagents offers this affinity-purified rabbit polyclonal reagent for research into IL-31 expression and cytokine biology. The IL-31 Antibody terminology uses the widely recognized abbreviated cytokine designation, while Interleukin 31 Polyclonal Antibody provides the expanded protein name and antibody format.

An IL-31 Antibody provides a reagent for investigating IL-31 expression and cytokine biology, while an Interleukin 31 Polyclonal Antibody supports research into inflammation, pruritus and immune-mediated signaling.

This IL-31 Antibody is part of our Immunology Antibodies collection.
