Interleukin 10 Antibody detects IL-10, an immunoregulatory cytokine encoded by the IL10 gene. IL-10 plays a central role in limiting excessive immune activation and maintaining immune homeostasis. It was originally identified through its ability to inhibit cytokine production by activated immune cells and is now recognized as an important mediator of anti-inflammatory responses. IL-10 can regulate both innate and adaptive immunity, allowing immune responses to control pathogens and other challenges while reducing the potential for prolonged inflammation and tissue injury.
IL-10 exerts its effects through a receptor complex containing IL10RA and IL10RB. Receptor engagement activates JAK1 and TYK2 and promotes STAT3-dependent transcription. This signaling pathway induces regulatory programs that suppress production of several pro-inflammatory cytokines and influence antigen presentation, immune-cell activation, and inflammatory feedback mechanisms. IL10 Antibody reagents are therefore useful for research examining cytokine-mediated regulation and the molecular mechanisms that restrain inflammatory responses.
IL-10 can be produced by numerous immune-cell populations, including T cells, B cells, monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Its biological effects depend on cellular context and the surrounding cytokine environment. In addition to limiting inflammatory mediator production, IL-10 can affect lymphocyte survival and function and alter the activity of antigen-presenting cells. These diverse actions have made IL-10 an important research target in immunology, inflammation, infectious disease, autoimmunity, and tumor immunology.
This rabbit polyclonal Interleukin 10 Antibody was generated against a peptide corresponding to amino acids 27-53 of human IL-10. The targeted region lies within the IL-10 protein and provides an approach distinct from antibodies generated against full-length antigen.
