IA1 Antibody INSM1/7992R recognizes insulinoma-associated protein 1 (INSM1), a zinc finger transcription factor involved in endocrine and neuroendocrine cell development and differentiation. INSM1 was originally identified through its expression in insulinoma and is also known as IA1 and insulinoma-associated transcription factor 1. The protein functions primarily as a transcriptional regulator, controlling gene expression programs that contribute to neuroendocrine lineage specification and the maturation of hormone-producing cells.
During embryonic development, INSM1 is expressed in progenitor populations that give rise to multiple endocrine and neuronal cell types. It contributes to the differentiation of pancreatic endocrine cells, gastrointestinal neuroendocrine cells, and selected neural lineages. INSM1 is predominantly localized to the nucleus, consistent with its role as a DNA-binding transcription factor. Expression becomes more restricted in many mature tissues, where INSM1 is associated primarily with specialized endocrine and neuroendocrine cell populations.
INSM1 expression is widely investigated in neuroendocrine tumor biology. The protein is associated with numerous neoplasms exhibiting neuroendocrine differentiation, including small cell lung carcinoma, pulmonary neuroendocrine tumors, Merkel cell carcinoma, pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors, and other neuroendocrine neoplasms. Its lineage-associated expression makes INSM1 useful for research into neuroendocrine differentiation and the transcriptional programs retained by these tumors.
Clone INSM1/7992R is a recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody generated against a recombinant region within amino acids 1-300 of human INSM1. This Insulinoma Associated Transcription Factor 1 Antibody provides a defined monoclonal reagent for investigating INSM1 expression, endocrine cell differentiation, and neuroendocrine tumor biology.
