HSPB2 Antibody / Heat Shock Protein Beta-2 Antibody recognizes Heat Shock Protein Beta-2 (HSPB2), a member of the small heat shock protein family that functions as an ATP-independent molecular chaperone. Heat Shock Protein Beta-2 helps stabilize partially unfolded proteins and prevents irreversible protein aggregation during cellular stress, thereby preserving protein homeostasis and promoting cell survival. Unlike many stress-inducible heat shock proteins, HSPB2 is constitutively expressed at high levels in cardiac and skeletal muscle, reflecting its specialized role in maintaining tissues exposed to continuous mechanical and metabolic demands.
Heat Shock Protein Beta-2 forms dynamic oligomeric complexes and cooperates with related small heat shock proteins, including HSPB5 (alpha B crystallin), to protect cytoskeletal proteins, preserve mitochondrial integrity, and support normal muscle function. HSPB2 also interacts with myotonic dystrophy protein kinase, linking molecular chaperone activity with signaling pathways involved in muscle differentiation, maintenance, and stress adaptation. These functions help cells tolerate oxidative stress, ischemia, heat shock, and other conditions that threaten protein stability and cellular viability.
Altered HSPB2 expression has been associated with cardiomyopathy, skeletal muscle disorders, ischemic injury, neurodegeneration, and several malignancies. Because disruption of protein quality control contributes to many human diseases, Heat Shock Protein Beta-2 is increasingly studied as a regulator of proteostasis, mitochondrial function, and cellular stress responses. Ongoing investigations continue to define its roles in cardiac protection, muscle regeneration, apoptosis, and metabolic adaptation under physiological and pathological conditions.
This antibody was developed for specific detection of Heat Shock Protein Beta-2 in research applications. Its reactivity with human, mouse, and rat samples makes it well suited for studies using common experimental models of muscle physiology and stress biology. An HSPB2 Antibody is a valuable research tool for investigating Heat Shock Protein Beta-2, molecular chaperone activity, protein homeostasis, muscle biology, and cellular stress responses.
For a broader overview of HSPB2 biology, small heat shock proteins, and molecular chaperone function, see our HSPB2 Antibody / Small Heat Shock Protein Antibody page.
Optimal dilution of the HSPB2 Antibody / Heat Shock Protein Beta-2 Antibody should be determined by the researcher.
Amino acids 1-182 of human HSPB2 were used as the immunogen for the HSPB2 antibody.
After reconstitution, the HSPB2 antibody can be stored for up to one month at 4oC. For long-term, aliquot and store at -20oC. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
