Core component of nucleosome. Nucleosomes wrap and compact DNA into chromatin, limiting DNA accessibility to the cellular machineries which require DNA as a template. Histones thereby play a central role in transcription regulation, DNA repair, DNA replication and chromosomal stability. DNA accessibility is regulated via a complex set of post-translational modifications of histones, also called histone code, and nucleosome remodeling. This antibody is part of a broader collection of Histone H3 antibodies used to study chromatin structure, histone modifications, and epigenetic regulation.
Titration of the Histone H3 antibody may be required due to differences in protocols and secondary/substrate sensitivity.
A portion of amino acids 28-57 from the human protein was used as the immunogen for this Histone H3 antibody.
