Hepatoma-Derived Growth Factor Antibody PCRP-HDGF-1D1 / Nuclear Mitogen Antibody recognizes HDGF, a multifunctional growth-associated protein with prominent nuclear localization. HDGF was originally identified through its mitogenic activity in hepatoma-derived cells and has subsequently been associated with regulation of cell proliferation, differentiation, migration and gene expression. Unlike conventional extracellular growth factors that primarily signal through cell-surface receptors, HDGF can localize to the nucleus and participate in nuclear regulatory processes.

HDGF contains a conserved N-terminal PWWP domain, a structural feature found in numerous proteins that interact with DNA and chromatin. This region contributes to the DNA-binding properties of HDGF and helps connect its nuclear localization with transcriptional regulation. HDGF also exhibits mitogenic activity, giving the protein an unusual combination of growth-promoting and nuclear regulatory functions. These characteristics have led to extensive investigation of HDGF in mechanisms controlling cellular growth and tissue development.

Elevated HDGF expression has been reported in multiple tumor types and has been studied in relation to cancer cell proliferation, migration, invasion and disease progression. HDGF has therefore become a useful research target for examining how nuclear growth-associated proteins contribute to malignant cell behavior. Beyond cancer biology, HDGF has also been investigated in developmental, vascular and cardiovascular research.
