GPRC5A Antibody / Retinoic Acid Inducible GPCR Antibody detects G protein-coupled receptor class C group 5 member A, an orphan receptor encoded by the GPRC5A gene. GPRC5A is also known as retinoic acid induced gene 1, RAIG1 and RAI3. It is a membrane-associated protein whose expression is strongly influenced by retinoic acid and is particularly associated with epithelial tissues. GPRC5A contains seven predicted transmembrane regions characteristic of G protein-coupled receptors and participates in pathways related to epithelial differentiation, cellular communication and tissue homeostasis. Its expression is especially prominent in pulmonary epithelium, making GPRC5A an important target in lung biology and epithelial cell research.

GPRC5A is classified as an orphan member of the class C GPCR family because a definitive endogenous ligand has not been established. Unlike many conventional GPCRs, GPRC5A has a relatively short extracellular amino-terminal region and may regulate cellular behavior through interactions with membrane proteins and intracellular signaling networks. Retinoic acid can induce GPRC5A transcription during epithelial differentiation, connecting vitamin A signaling with changes in receptor expression and tissue-specific cellular programs.
